Sangyeon

Sangyeon's journey in business began in 2005, shortly after turning 20, when he registered his first e-commerce company in North America. With limited resources but a clear goal, he started selling Korean-capable phones online — a niche product that met the needs of Korean-speaking immigrants across the U.S. and Canada.

That early experience taught him the value of listening closely to customer needs and building sustainable operations from the ground up.

Over the years, Sangyeon’s path has taken him through various industries — including hospitality, finance, and consumer electronics — each one adding a new layer of perspective and understanding.

While managing Nuvo Hotel Suites in Calgary, he focused on creating a welcoming experience for guests and leading his team with fairness, empathy, and consistency.

Later, as an Account Manager at T.E. Investment Counsel, he supported high-net-worth clients with financial planning and portfolio management, always prioritizing trust and long-term relationships.

Now based in Dallas–Fort Worth, Sangyeon leads Nuvo Investments Inc., a company with two core divisions:

  • Quick Cash Phone — a buyback and resale business for used electronics.
  • Celular en Pagos — a retail operation that offers smartphone financing to communities often overlooked by traditional credit systems.

Through these ventures, he remains committed to creating access and opportunity — particularly for immigrant and underbanked families — while continuing to learn, evolve, and grow as a small business owner.

Sangyeon holds a degree in Economics from the University of Calgary and completed additional accounting studies at Sogang University in Seoul.

He speaks English, Korean, and conversational Spanish, and values the opportunity to work across diverse cultures and communities every day.
